Microsoft cuts the Xbox to $199. Only Nintendo has yet to show their full hand ...
We're still a week out from E3, and all the big news is happening. This is just ODD.
Not to be outdone by Sony, and largely out of necessity, Microsoft has matched Sony's $100 price cut which brings the Xbox to $199.
Despite recent reports to the contrary, Nintendo said back in April that if Sony and Microsoft cut their consoles to $199, they would have to consider cutting the GameCube's price.
It's expected that Nintendo may drop the GameCube to $149, a $50 price cut. There is little discussion of the possibility that Nintendo might match the $100 price difference, as a $99 console could possibly eat into sales of the Game Boy Advance, where Nintendo dominates the market.
Toys 'R' Us is honoring the price cuts RETROACTIVELY for anyone that has purchased the console from them in the past 30 days, as long as you have a receipt.
More news to come. Stay tuned.
