Nintendo GameCube has officially arrived in Europe, and as the clock struck 12 midnight thousands of people shuffled forward to become the proud owner of Nintendo’s ground-breaking new games console. Adding to the huge pre-order sales, European retailers opened at midnight to give dedicated video games fans the opportunity to be the first to own Nintendo GameCube.

The console is supported by the biggest and most impressive line-up of games ever seen for a console launch, with over 20 software titles from today that will extend to over 50 titles available by the summer. The Nintendo GameCube will also retail at the best price for a console launch ever at €199.

Combining the best graphics, technical brilliance and entertaining gameplay, the Nintendo GameCube will offer a mix that will please everyone from the occasional player to the dedicated gamers. The launch portfolio guarantees a universal appeal, with everything from action, strategy, adventure, racing to sporting titles that will suit any gaming taste and age.

The launch software will be complemented by a superb range of blockbuster franchises including Star Wars Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron II, 2002 FIFA World Cup, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, ISS2, Batman Vengeance and many many more…

Nintendo’s commitment to the European games market has been supported by a heavyweight €100 million fully integrated pan-European campaign. The campaign encompasses an execution of advertising, PR activity, in-store promotions, viral marketing, sampling events and street entertainment housed within enormous clear cubes, all anchored by Nintendo’s philosophy and endline ‘Life’s A Game’.

David Gosen, Managing Director, Nintendo of Europe comments:

We have the biggest line up of games ever seen for a console launch and offer pure entertainment at the lowest launch price ever.

And the fun is going to continue with 50 titles by the summer. Quite simply, Nintendo GameCube offers a gaming experience that is unmatched by anyone else.”
