Frankly, it's surprising the new double winner wasn't one step down the evolution ladder.
Even after our friend Malamar, Pokemon has found time to announce five new Mega Evolutions for next month's Pokemon Legends: Z-A.
The first three were shown as the three original Pokemon X and Y starter final evolutions - Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja - will get the Mega forms they didn't receive in their home game. The other two were shown as part of a DLC called "Mega Dimensions" which will, among others, give Raichu two Mega Evolution forms (Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y) as previously seen with Charizard and Mewtwo.
