The first games to utilize the GameCube/GBA connectivity are available now. But what about the link cables?
I have called approximately 15 stores today, as well as asked our staff to call local retailers in their area to see if they have the Nintendo brand GC-GBA link cable. Everywhere we've called the stores say they don't have them in yet.
A couple retailers I spoke with said that the cables initially will only be available online through retailers (EB World, Gamestop, etc), but it's still up in the air if those stores even have them, or if they have been shipped.
If you have seen link cables, please jump in talkback and let us know. We want to test the connectivity as badly as you do.
We're looking into this further, and will have future updates as soon as we can get them.
Update: The Cable is now on sale at the Nintendo Store, but so far online retailers are the only way to get this connectivity cable.
We will have more news about this tomorrow.
Update 2: We received Nintendo's Official Game Boy Advance Newsletter today which confirms that the link cable is only available online.
Here's the full quote:
" Using the cable, you can transfer data back and forth between the games. This is just one of many ways game developers are finding to take advantage of the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable, which is exclusively available at Nintendo's Online Store and other online retailers. This is certainly disappointing news for anyone who doesn't have access to the Internet or a credit card. Hopefully, this is only a temporary problem that will be resolved once more product is manufactured or possibly when Nintendo begins publishing games of their own that make use of the connectivity.
