Game sales overall were down significantly this week, with Gran Turismo Concept in the Number One slot selling a mere 50,000 copies, compared to 238,000 copies of Smash Brothers last week. However, Nintendo edged up on Sony this week in the Top Ten, leaving the score at four vs. six, one up from previously. However, Nintendo branded software accounted for 14 of the 30 top selling titles this week, down from sixteen.
Magical Vacation for the GBA sold well, jumping from 18th place into the bottom slot of the Top Ten (and snagging a solid 8.8 review from Famitsu). Also, the latest GBA game in the Dragon Quest franchise (know as Dragon Warrior in the US) climbed up again a favorable six slots to claim honorable mention in eleventh place.
Easily the most interesting shift, Super Mario Advance 2 for the GBA plummeted from third to 18th place, with weekly sales amounting to less than one-tenth of last week’s totals. At the same time, its predecessor, Super Mario Advance, appeared again in the Top 30 after a fair hiatus.
