SD-Memory Teaser

The SD Memory card itself has been added to Nintendo's list of GCN peripherals. What can be deciphered from this new page?

The SD Memory card and adapter have been the most elusive GCN peripherals since they were first announced. Nintendo has now added a SD-Card page to compliment its old SD-Adapter page. The heading reads, "Increase your memory capacity!" while the description claims, "Using the SD-Memory Card Adapter, you can access the 64 Mb of memory available in Matsushita's SD-Memory Card." Though there are 64Mb (8MB) SD-cards, Nintendo most likely means the 64MB model, as seen in the complimentary picture.

Though the page does not fully clarify the extent of the card's capabilities, it certainly suggests that it will be used as some sort of big memory card (as expected). Whether it be compatible with Memory 59's format or not is still uncertain. But this does demonstrate that the project has not been scrapped--something many had suspected. Hopefully Nintendo will elaborate further on the sister peripherals soon.
