Fans of the long-running epic Sega series rejoice!

Shining Force returns! Sega just recently revealed that there is a new title in the series currently known as "Shining Soul".

It's said to be an Adventure game, and that would be the first since Shining Wisdom some time ago. While there's few details, it is understood that the current release date is for sometime early Spring 2002.

Update: Since this will be the first game in the huge Shining series to be released on a non-Sega system, we thought you might like to know a little bit about the previous games in the series. So, I'm going to simply list the games in the series along with the system it was released on and finally provide you with an excellent link where you'll find much more Shining info than we can provide here.

Shining in the Darkness - Sega Genesis

Shining Force - Sega Genesis

Shining Force Gaiden - Sega Game Gear (Japan only)

Shining Force: Sword of Hajya - Sega Game Gear (Gaiden II in Japan)

Shining Force CD - Sega CD (compilation SF Gaiden 1 and 2 plus two "bonus" adventures)

Shining Force II

Shining Force III: Scenario 2 - Sega Saturn (Japan only)

Shining Force III: Scenario 3 - Sega Saturn (Japan only)

Shining Soul - Game Boy Advance (coming soon!)

In case you haven't gotten the picture by now, the Shining series is massive. Composed of twelve games (nine of which were released in America) and spanning four Sega systems, the anouncement of the next game in the series has more than a few people elated.
