It's a little late, but the GameShark has finally arrived for Game Boy Advance.

Originally expected for launch, InterAct has finally released the GBA GameShark. New features include a PC link-up cable for downloading codes directly from GameShark.com...you'll never have to manually enter codes again (though you still can, of course). The product comes pre-loaded with codes for 25 GBA games, mainly the launch titles with a few more that have been released since then.

We should have a review of the GBA GameShark soon...until then, here's the full press release:

IT’S HERE! GAMESHARK FOR GAME BOY ADVANCE HITS RETAIL SHELVES

Loaded with Codes for 25 Popular GBA Games

Hunt Valley, MD ~ October 10, 2001 ~ The most recent addition to the GameShark family is here and it’s jam-packed with codes for your favorite Game Boy Advance games. GameShark for GBA contains the newest technology in game enhancement devices and it’s available only from InterAct Accessories, Inc., a Recoton company (NASDAQ:RCOT).

One of the most exciting additions is an Internet transparent code update feature that allows a gamer to connect the Game Boy Advance GameShark to their PC via USB port. In seconds a gamer will receive a complete GameShark code update right from the GameShark.com servers. This means no more manual entry of codes, and even better, daily code updates giving gamers the needed edge to beat their favorite games. We’ve also improved the user interface, and included new PC software that gives total flexibility and code management to the game player right up on their PC.

“Soon, over a million Game Boy Advance users will be playing their games with GameShark, and we’ve packed features into this version of GameShark that make it the easiest to use yet,” says John Hays, Director of GameShark Product Development. “Our goal was to make it simple for young gamers to update their code list, and we feel this product will have an even bigger mass market appeal and expect to see the percentage of GBA gamers using GameShark to rise substantially.”

A sampling of the games for which codes have been preloaded in the GBA GameShark include Bomberman Tournament, Castlevania, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, Iridion 3D, Krazy Racers, Namco Museum, Pitfall, Rayman, Ready 2 Rumble Rnd 2, and Super Mario Advance. As with all GameShark products, new codes are posted daily at www.gameshark.com as new games are introduced and as new codes are discovered in existing games.

“As we continue to engineer this great game system, we are aiming to address and remedy consumer service issues regarding ease of use and even the ability to update the features of the product via the Internet. For example, with the new technology we are using, we can now send a new version of the software directly into a gamer’s GameShark,” says Hays.

GameShark for GBA is available for MSRP $39.99 at major toy and electronics retailers nationwide.
