The company behind GameShark wants you to play Pikmin in the car and on the crapper. Details and a picture inside. Updated with color info!

Today InterAct announced its Mobile Monitor 5.4 and companion battery pack (each will be sold separately) for GameCube. Used together, these two products make the GameCube almost as portable as the Game Boy Advance...you just can't shove it into your pocket. If you're still in disbelief, here's the picture to prove it:

Freedom does have its price though, and this little hardware combo will cost you around $200...the same price as the GameCube itself. Still, if you can die happy after getting to play Rogue Leader while camping out in line to see Episode 2 in the theater, or if Pikmin in the bathroom is too delicious an opportunity to pass up, a few extra dollars are inconsequential.

The LCD monitor is 5.4" diagonally and includes stereo speakers and dual headphone jacks. The battery pak is rechargeable and will power both the GameCube and the screen for up to 2.5 hours. Check out our hardware profiles for each to get more info.

UPDATE: InterAct has confirmed for PGC that the LCD monitor will be available in both indigo and black. Good news for our more color-conscience readers!

If you're still not satisfied, here's the official press release:

INTERACT HAS ANOTHER HIT IN MONITOR FOR GAMECUBE

Screen and Battery provide gamers option to take their GameCube on the road

Hunt Valley, MD ~ October 3, 2001 ~ The compact design of the GameCube console from Nintendo makes it a perfect candidate for accessories that allow gaming any place, any time. Earlier this year the gaming world gave InterAct Accessories Inc., a Recoton company (NASDAQ:RCOT), rave reviews when they introduced the Mobile Monitor and Mobile Power One for Sony’s PS one console. Now InterAct has decided to do it again by introducing both of these innovative products specifically designed for the new GameCube console.

“The Mobile Monitor and Mobile Power One for PS one were both a hit with consumers simply because these products were the perfect solution for true PS one mobility,” said Rodney Hillman, Director of Product Development for InterAct Accessories. “We now want to give those consumers the same opportunity to make their GameCube just as portable.”

The Mobile Monitor 5.4 for GameCube is a 5.4-inch color LCD screen that attaches to the back of the GameCube for high-resolution viewing. The monitor comes equipped with two stereo speakers, two headphone jacks, and controls for both color and volume. In addition, a car adapter is included to power the Mobile Monitor 5.4 and GameCube on those long car rides. Gamers can even connect the monitor to a VCR, DVD player, or another gaming console through the A/V input port. The Mobile Monitor 5.4 folds down on top of the GameCube when not in use. The Mobile Monitor 5.4 will carry an MSRP of $149.99 and will be available at all major toy and electronic retailers nationwide for the GameCube launch in mid November.

InterAct is developing a rechargeable battery pack that will power the GameCube and Mobile Monitor 5.4 for up to two and a half hours. Designed to attach to the GameCube and fit perfectly under the console, the battery rounds out the portable potential of the GameCube by giving gamers the ability to take their GameCube and Mobile Monitor 5.4 wherever they go without the need to plug into an outlet. An LED light indicates when the battery is fully charged. The battery for GameCube will be available in mid December at all major toy and electronic retailers nationwide and will carry an MSRP of $49.99.
