Camp Hyrule Registration Postponed - Update!

Not entirely unexpected just a couple weeks before SpaceWorld, Nintendo's server buckles due to a hardware problem ...

Registration was scheduled to begin this morning at 11AM Pacific Time for Camp Hyrule, Nintendo's week-long online chat event for gaming enthusiasts.

However, server problems have forced Nintendo to reschedule registration for 11AM tomorrow. Why all the fuss about Camp Hyrule?

That's simple ... this is the last US public event before GameCube's launch, and it's very exclusive to boot. Camp Hyrule is limited to 2000 gamers, and Nintendo tends to dish great information at the event. Or it might be that promise that Nintendo will be awarding a GameCube and library of launch titles.

Some folks (myself included) managed to get their registrations in before Nintendo rescheduled. Nintendo's Dan Owsen has told us that if you got the Camp Hyrule Confirmation E-Mail, you WILL be accepted.

However, those lucky few can really consider themselves lucky ... the server problems were NOT traffic related and was apparently a hardware problem. Owsen says that only about three people got their registrations in.

PGC went out of their way to try to get in, and out of all of us, only one managed to get a confirmation e-mail. Rumors that we caused the hardware failure in order to ensure PGC's attendance are greatly exaggerated.
