InterAct Claims Dominance in GBA Hardware Sales

The third-party peripheral company says that the handheld market has become a major portion of its business. Also, new info on the GBA GameShark.

InterAct Accessories released a statement today claiming 29.3% of North American peripheral sales for Game Boy Advance, more than any of its competitors. The company's PowerPak, PowerPak EX, and PlayLine Link Cable were all in the top ten best-selling GBA accessories during the system's first month on American shores.

"The tremendous growth of Game Boy Color over the past 2 years has proven handheld gaming to be a critical category that InterAct must aggressively pursue. To that end, we are more dedicated than ever to supporting the Game Boy Advance market and look forward to releasing yet even more innovative products like the very cool SharkLight, available this month, and the highly anticipated GameShark," said Todd Hays, President of InterAct Accessories, Inc. "Our team's commitment to this hot category is shown in these industry sales numbers and will continue to be evident as the season moves forward."

In other InterAct news, the GBA version of GameShark will be released this August. It will retail for $39.99 USD and include a USB cable and Windows-compatible software for downloading codes directly from GameShark.com to the unit's internal memory.
