As expected, Matsushita has lowered the price of the SD Memory cards, compatible with the GameCube.
With the .5 MB digicard as the GCN standard, many will find it necessary to purchase a larger SD Memory card to store information. The only potential problem is the price. Thankfully, Panasonic has lowered its prices, making the cards a more realistic alternative to the "byte-size" standard.
The 16MB card is lowered from $69.95 to $39.95, while the 64MB one has been reduced by $60 to $99.95.
Along with the drastic deductions, Panasonic has also announced plans for even larger cards in the future. Panasonic expects a 256MB card to be out by the end of the year, a 512MB card in early 2002, and GB+ cards appearing within the next few years. These high-end cards should ensure that the prices of the cheaper cards will go down even more during the GameCube's life span.
