It's not called GnG4 and it's not on GameCube. Still, we think Nintendophiles have reason to smile. Meet Maximo!
Prior to E3, we ran a rumor that Capcom was working on a new Ghosts n’ Goblins and that it could very well appear on GameCube. As soon as we hit E3, it turned out that part of this was true. The long rumored 3D Ghosts n’ Goblins finally made its appearance as Maximo: Ghosts to Glory though it was running on Playstation 2. The game features a knight in armor running around, with GnG mainstays like getting hurt reducing you to your underwear and gold armor power-ups. Oh, and lots and lots of cartoon zombies, skeletons and demons. Unlike the previous GnG games, it looks like the hero isn’t Arthur (no beard) but Maximo, the title character. The game looks great and even though it’s not on GameCube, we’re happy to see the series return.
Could the game make it’s way to GameCube? PGC met with Capcom today and while they would not confirm or talk much about GameCube projects, they said a version of the game on NGC is “quite possible” for the future.
