.......

The good fellahs over at Nintendojo share their feelings on the Dolphin Delay:

The shocking revelations! The earth shattering accusations! It's another delay rumor! Apparently, developers who are in touch with Nintendo are saying that Nintendo's next console, codenamed Dolphin, won't make the 2000 release. According to the developers, Nintendo told them that "if Sony can say it [ the psx 2 release date] with a straight face, so can we." Nintendo of course is saying that we can bluff as well as Sony can. They obviously know something we don't.

Focus: Announcing a 2000 release is an obvious ploy to keep sales of the Dreamcast and PSX2 to the hard core gaming community as the Nintendo loyalists, and casual gamers hold off their purchase until the Nintendo machine hits. We might remember than Nintendo used the same strategy with the N64, and sales of next-generation machines didn't take off until after the release of the N64 for this very reason. It is also prudent to note that Sony too is experiencing troubles. In recent months, news reports have been surfacing claiming that Sony is facing problems with the manufacturing side of its Emotion chip. One report claims that up to 60% of the chips manufactured were found to have faults in them. As a result, many in the industry, including Nintendo, are skeptical the PSX2 will hit its projected releated.
