Nintendo kindly asks retailers to suspend GameCube pre-order campaigns until the specific launch date and pricing are finalized.
According to Gamespot, retailers like Electronics Boutique and Babbage's Etc. have stopped their preorder programs for both the Nintendo Gamecube and X-Box. According to the online report Nintendo themselves requested the halt of the preorder programs for the Gamecube as the systems final pricing and availability is not available yet. The Nintendo spokesperson said that they expect the "official" preorders to commence late-summer 2001.
What happens to preorders already taken is still unknown. If you are a reader out there whom has a Gamecube on order at one of these stores drop us a line in the talkback area. No Gamecube preorders until mid 2001? Does this imply a delay in the system's launch? Hit that button and let us know.
