Zosha posts an off-topic story about the ever expensive PS2. Retailers all over are going crazy, raising prices, screwing kids over. It's quite simply a big mess.

OK, this isn't Nintendo news at all, but as a wise man once said "Know how thy enemy doth piss everyone else off." Take a look at what Core Magazine had to say about the recent PS2 cutbacks...

Today we received word from the owner of chain of gaming related stores in the north-east regarding the practices of some distributors amidst the impending PlayStation2 launch. From what we've been told, smaller retailers are being forced to purchase 10-20 pieces of PlayStation2 software per hardware unit, in order to be guaranteed systems at all.

In order to cope with the situation, some retailers are forcing customers to purchase PlayStation2 packages including the system and 4-5 games. Other retailers are planning to charge premiums on the PlayStation2 hardware itself, raising the price from $299 to $350 or even $399.

Obviously retailers such as EB, Babbages or Software Etc. won't be gouging gamer's pockets like this, but then they're sold out until next May!
