New deatails on Dolphins licensing fees suggest that they may be higher than those for PS2.

Most Nintendo fans out there were recently saddened by IGN64 somewhat when they reported on how the Dolphin's licensing fees are looking to be comparible to the N64's according to publishers. This came at a time when we were assured that Nintendo were correcting the mistakes they made with the Nintendo 64 and its lack of third-party support, shocking Nintendo loyalists everywhere. Matt from IGN commented on this in a recent Q&A issue and reassured fans out there that things werent as bad as they perceived.

The Dolphin's licensing fees are not nearly as high as we were led to believe. One of the publishers we spoke with (out of four at the time), gave us that information and we decided to run with it. However, upon further chats with other publishers, we're pretty convinced that Dolphin's licensing fees will be absolutely no higher than those of PS2. Evidently the publishing source that originally gave us the information can be considered, well, a smaller player in the industry and thus exaggerated the cost of developing for the console based on what it knew.
