Strong sales of Nintendo's favorite little platform could see the release date of Game Boy Advance pushed back, according to a European Nintendo spokesperson.

Nintendo's recently appointed European head of sales and marketing, David Gosen believes the current success of Game Boy and Pokémon could delay the appearance of Nintendo's next generation handheld. The company looks to maximize sales of what is currently its lead hardware format, according to U.K. trade publication, CTW.

"A release date for Game Boy Advance was slated for later this year. But because Game Boy Color is doing so well we don't know yet. It's a great problem for us to have though," Gosen told the trade paper.
