T&F for Dolphin?

Could there be a new Track & Field en route from Konami?

Ahhhh...just thinking about Track and Field 1 and 2 in the arcade makes my hands just cramp up. The amount of quarters I used to plug into that machine back in the day is probably a number I wouldn't like to admit, but it was worth it. Track and Field was definitely one of my favorite multiplayer arcade titles. (It also got me hooked on Summer Games for my old C64) So Konami's thinking of porting Track and Field 2000 (in some form) to the Dolphin! Check out the full interview at Nintendorks, or just read the Dolphin tidbits below!

What can you tell us about a Dolphin version of T&F?

Well, as you know, Konami is very dedicated to Nintendo. You've seen that over the years. What I can tell you...this is really cool. We rented out the LA Sports Center for a day back in October. We have formed a relationship with HSI (the top Global Track & Field agency) that provides us with world-class athletes for motion capture and overall design direction. We basically motion captured every single event, and no one has ever done that before. Regardless of platform, it will be the most realistic track and field game you have ever seen. We aspire to be at that level of animation for our next-gen games. The game is already well underway for Playstation 2, and Konami's long standing relationship with Nintendo provides a great opportunity to develop a Track & Field title for the Dolphin. Because we have started so early, I think it'll be one of our leading sports titles for the Nintendo's next system.
