Along with a price increase and a new name.

Yacht Club Games has announced some changes for Shovel Knight beginning with the Specter of Torment update.

The Switch version will come with two methods of purchase. The first option will be to purchase "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove" which is all of the content currently on the Wii U and 3DS versions at a slightly higher price. Switch players will also have the option to purchase portions of the game; just the original campaign, now known as "Shovel of Justice", or either of the two updates (Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment).

Existing owners of Shovel Knight will have the game converted to the Treasure Trove version, and all owners will receive the King Knight update tentatively in 2017. Yacht Club Games has also "vowed" in an accompanying Q&A page that they will begin a new project in 2017.

That's cool. I own it on Wii U, but that might convince me to buy 1 or 2 of the modes on Switch

I just bought this an hour ago on Wii U.

I was holding off buying Shovel Knight on 3DS because I wasn't going to play it any time soon. Do you think customers who buy it on the Switch will get access to the 3DS game too? Or should I get it now to make sure I get the cross-buy?

Edit: Oh, I see, I misinterpreted the first sentence of the last paragraph.

There's no crossbuy, which is why the Switch version will have multiple options (buy the lot, or purchase whatever campaign you want separately).

The co-op mode is pretty fantastic if you have the chance to try it.  Although that was a compelling exclusive for the Wii U version, and totally justified the Amiibo purchase in my opinion, I'm glad that (almost) everyone will get to try out this mode soon.

Very impressed with how Yacht Club Games has handled their business.
