Some might call this week a cooldown.

This week represents a sea of calm in between the mass of insanity of the last couple of weeks and next week's double shot of the Year of the 3DS RPG. We have a small eShop collection from RCMADIAX that has both ice (SKEASY) and fire (VOLCANO), but no Knuckles. There's also a little fighting game imported from Europe in Steel Lords... but that's it.

The Virtual Console offers a couple of NES rarities from late 80's stalwart Culture Brain - the brawler Flying Dragon and in a bit of fortuitous timing for the Major League Baseball all-star break, Baseball Simulator 1.000. On the New 3DS, restrain your Konami hatred for a week as they drop The Legend of the Mystical Ninja to bring some Goemon to the 3DS.

Europe has a really light week. Actually, it's ludicrously light. Once you get past the enrollment drive for Team Callie with a Splatoon sale, the big releases are Tap Tap Arcade 2 and the 2009 film Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva finally being made available for sale on a Nintendo platform. (Hence, the page image.)

Talkback

I'm curious why now, like this could have been bundled with the 3DS at launch, but regardless Professor Layton & The Eternal Diva is a great video game movie and has all the spirit of the Professor Layton games and cut scenes just stretched out over the length of a movie.

Rather disappointed that North America didn't get the Layton movie - seemed like a nice release and solid price for Europe. Fingers crossed that it gets released here (without doubling the relative price) in the near future.
