Two big Nintendo franchises will be among the four mobile titles

Following the launch of Miitomo, Nintendo is looking to big portable hits for their smart apps.

During their earnings press conference today, Nintendo confirmed that the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing series will both be represented in their mobile strategy.

Nintendo is still committing to four mobile apps releasing by March 31, 2017.

There are so many sickening mobage tricks they can pull on Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing. I'm really curious as to what they are going to do with these two series on mobile.

Alas, I feel sad for those that want a new Advance Wars.

Two game series I dont really care about. Where is Mario?

Animal Crossing does make sense though. Im predicting tons of microtransactions.

Fire Emblem better be good. I've already stopped using Miitomo.

I'm not getting tricked into buying another Animal Crossing game. Fire Emblem seems like it would be a good fit.

As much as I hope that this it will be a full-fledged Animal Crossing, we're probably looking at mobile Happy Home Designer or something along those lines - maybe the ability to design homes and share responses in animalese (a la Miitomo).  Fire Emblem is an interesting choice, and I'm glad to see Nintendo wants to take it in so many directions. If it's free-to-play though, I worry that microtransactions may limit the gameplay.

Ooooh, Animal Crossing on mobile? Very tempting.
So far, Miitomo has been more than fair. I can't give those guys money if I wanted to, they keep throwing free stuff at me. I assume the primary focus of Miitomom is not monetization but engagement. Maybe that will change with later mobile offerings.

Thanks!  ^_^  But I cherish the four I have, and replay them all every 4-5 years.

Animal Crossing having micro-transactions scares me.  Thousands of items or themes or sets, all for $XX.  Maybe if you had more freedom of expression.  I.e., the room can be as big as we want, have as many furniture pieces displayed as you want, and can alter wall/floor with any combo of design.  That is, north wall may be different, or even sections of said north wall can be customized.  Still, playing Wild World until 2009 probably has be set for life when it comes to Animal Crossing.

No more Animal Crossing on consoles ever again?

I wish Enner was wrong about Advance Wars...sadly I may never get a new Advance Wars game

I don't think that's what it means. Some Nintendo PR release stated

Quote:

Nintendo will design the latter game so that it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems. By playing both Animal Crossing games, users will find increased enjoyment.

The obvious fear is the possibility of these moving to mobile on a permanent basis since both series would work within the shitty microtransactions mobile business model.  Like I kind of feel that if you're a fan of either series you specifically don't want to support either game for fear of giving Nintendo the message that you would prefer these as mobile releases.

Nintendo hasn't really done anything bad with mobile yet, my distrust is coming entirely from the track record of other videogame companies.

I know it's not the same, but it's related to mobile. There's a relatively new game like Warbits which is essentially a love letter to Nintendo's series. It's been reviewing really well, too.
