They come with the ability to play it loud.

Although there won't be a system bundle, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE will have a limited edition for all territories.

The package will be known as a limited edition in North America, but will be known as the "Fortissimo Edition" outside. The package will contain stickers, a soundtrack sampler, an art book, and costume DLC (which will be sold separately for US$1.99 ea).

North America's limited edition will be US$79.99 and be sold at GameStop and Amazon. The Australian edition will be AU$119.95.

Look forward to hoping to be around for the 8 minutes that this is available before being sold out, then waiting for another 8 minutes to see that 60% of the supply is up on ebay for 4-5x the cost.

Please, Nintendo, make "limited supply" be simply, "you have until X date to preorder. We will suppy everyone who preorder the special edition by that date a copy. There won't be any available day of launch."

As long as you do this scenario with established franchises - not new IPS - I don't think MANY will complain.

That's kind of tempting, but the $20 upcharge seems a bit steep for an incomplete set of pack-ins.

xcwarrior nails my thoughts exactly.

I honestly don't understand how companies like ATLUS and XSEED are able to do special edition preorders better than Nintendo can. They are seriously inept.

Why not put it up for pre order early and then base the amount of units you manufacture on the preorders, I don't get it.

When Nintendo says limited, it means it!

Logistics and manufacturing. I can imagine a scenario where such a promise will cost Nintendo a lot more than we would think or lead to a bad experience for those who preorder. I would assume it becomes more burdensome for Nintendo when services allow customers to cancel preorders.

Or, as Evan-B mentioned, maybe Nintendo is just bad at this.

Anyway, I'll probably be getting this cause I'm dumb for this game.

With Nintendo limited editions I don't even consider the possibility of getting it.  I don't think that's Nintendo's intentions but to me Nintendo might as well not make these things and I've conditioned myself to being content with the basic edition.

I actually forgot that this is the SMT x Fire Emblem game.  Probably not a good idea to give something associated with existing franchises and unrelated name, but whatever.  Unless it gets creamed in reviews I feel almost like I have to buy a copy just because I know this will be one of those ultra rare releases years from now when the retro community discovers the Wii U.  Even if I don't personally like it, it seems like a good investment.

I thought this was how they did it for the longest time. I remember they were taking pre-orders for Zelda N64 titles up until launch week. People will pay the money for them, leave it open for ordering and THEN place the manufacturing orders with the factories.

Mind blown.  Got the FE part.  Though if your name is some clever puzzle that's not the best way to market it.

Heh, it's okay. I didn't get the SMT reversal until James Jones mentioned it on RFN.

The Special Edition is up, by the way. Snagged one pretty quick. I LOVE SPECIAL EDITIONS!

I usually say no to special editions, but it's hard to say no to stickers.

I don't know how often they do it, but right now they're taking pre-orders in Japan up to the 27th for the Super Famicom New 3DS (with the system shipping out in July). I can't really think of anything that would stop them from doing that through their online stores in North America or Europe. The biggest hurdle with production is usually timing and even if they did have people cancel on them, it's not as though they have trouble selling limited editions right now. There could be a better reason behind it, but I think it's much more likely that they don't care all that much that a lot of people miss out and are content to play it safe.
