UPDATED: You can now get your Miitomo going

Nintendo Account registration is now open.

The new service went live just before 10pm Eastern time, and load time may be slight due to the early rush, but you can create the account at accounts.nintendo.com.

At present, the account functions are limited to establishing a nickname and linking social accounts, but there are references to "mission status" being lost if the account is closed. Other functions, such as My Nintendo and registration for Miitomo, should be live shortly.

UPDATE 6:35am Eastern: Miitomo registration can now be completed at miitomo.com. Pre-registering will earn you Platinum points for My Nintendo.

Getting on it like it's hot!

azekeFebruary 17, 2016

It's a shame it's not supported in all countries.

I am still forced to mask myself as if i live in Ireland...

AdrockFebruary 17, 2016

Well, that was simple.

SorenFebruary 17, 2016

It was really simple to register and link all my stuff. Even easier to preregister to Miitomo. Color me surprised.

TheFleeceFebruary 17, 2016

I've been waiting for this day for what seemed like forever. I'm glad to finally get the ball rolling, I'm excited!

ShyGuyFebruary 17, 2016

I linked my NNID, I am set.

ejamerFebruary 17, 2016

I don't have a cell phone, and am not interested in anything mobile-related.
Is this something I need to do?  Really not feeling excited about it.

You will need a Nintendo Account for My Nintendo, which is the Club Nintendo replacement.

Done and done!

We are drawing ever closer to the NX and what ever the devil it is.

OedoFebruary 17, 2016

You get My Nintendo Platinum Points just for pre-registering, so it wouldn't hurt to do it even if you don't plan on getting the app. If you're logged into your Nintendo Account, it's literally two button presses on the Miitomo site and you're set.

ejamerFebruary 17, 2016

Meh... "My Nintendo" points hold no interest for me and I'm incredibly skeptical that the new Club Nintendo will offer anything I care about.  Going to pass on this one.

I'll wait until the rush dies down.

StratosFebruary 17, 2016

Doesn't seem to be any slow down. May be good to get it in now before any rewards or perks are announced because I foresee that point being when the system gets flooded.

broodwarsFebruary 17, 2016

Miitomo looks completely worthless, but I registered my account, etc. anyway just for the inevitably worthless Platinum coins. Hopefully we see the Nintendo Account system fully rolled out & integrated with the current consoles soon. I recently had a hard drive failure on my Wii U that really shined a spotlight on Nintendo needing a way to backup your saves.

TurdFurgyFebruary 17, 2016

It was simple.
It worked.
It functioned smoothly.

It's already everything Club Nintendo wasn't.

AdrockFebruary 17, 2016

I still don't really understand what Miitomo even is, but I pre-registered because I have no real reason not to. It's free. I'm more interested in earning Gold Points on My Nintendo so hopefully we get more news on that soon.

Am I the only one having issues?  I've tried three times now.  They state they are emailing me a code to input on the site.  I never get the email either in my regular inbox or spam folder.  Then it states it doesn't work after an hour.  Well if they never send me the email with the code, how could I complete it in an hour?

LemonadeFebruary 17, 2016

Its nice to see the new account system. Miitomo sounds like it could be fun too, but I dont have an iOS or Android device.

I got the email straight away.

I wish I did.  I rechecked my email and I didn't typo the thing.

Simply, it's a social communication app that uses Miis as a proxy for people who are reticent in speaking with their family and friends. It aims at providing a fun context to start a conversation with your liked and loved ones.

Nope. The whole thing has been a failure for me as well. Tried it last night. Got no verification codes. Then when I checked my email this morning, found that a few were sent at 3 and 5 am. Tried using them but they had both expired. I've tried requesting a verification codes again and haven't received any. To me, this site is even worse than Club Nintendo.

This has also been happening to me. Do you two happen to have Yahoo email accounts? From looking around, it seems this is the cause of the issue.

We might have to change our emails to get it to work, unless Nintendo can figure out a way to fix it.

Yep. I've got a Yahoo account I like to use for this type of stuff to keep my real gmail account free from ads. I've been wondering what would happen if I tried another account. Guess Nintendo hates Yahoo for some reason.

LouieturkeyFebruary 19, 2016

Actually, I finally got mine working.  Turns out I could still log in, it was just my email address that wasn't verified.  I suggest trying to log in with the email and password that you set up (or through your linked account).  Then it logged me in and just showed that my email wasn't verified (mine was gmail btw).  So I had them resend the verification email and everything worked.
