Timing tied to Miitomo registration

Already live in Japan, the Nintendo Account will come west in two weeks.

Nintendo of America, Europe and Australia confirmed in separate statements today that the Nintendo Account will open with Miitomo registration on the 17th. As previously promised, existing Nintendo Network IDs, emails or social networking accounts (Twitter, Facebook) to create the account.

Among the benefits for early adopters will be unspecified bonuses for Miitomo, and the My Nintendo service will come along with Miitomo.

I hope they haven't forgot about Flipnote 3D, again.

Wait, is Miitomo mandatory? I want to migrate to the current system to keep a unified record of my digital games (should Nintendo honor this in any way for the NX), but I want nothing to do with any app nonsense.

SorenFebruary 03, 2016

No, you just need a Nintendo Account to pre-register Miitomo.

Has their been any mention of Miitomo being available as a web-app - or is it only mobile devices?

I'm still not sure I fully understand what this is.

Nintendo Account is the replacement for Club Nintendo. It will tie to your Nintendo Network ID, which should have a history of all your purchases and online data.

I thought that My Nintendo was the replacement for Club Nintendo.

Dear Nintendo:
Be smart and roll this out in phases, extending the invitations first to the members of Club Nintendo by their date of registration.  Then your servers might not blow up on launch day. :p
