First they come for the Chrono Triggers, then they come for the unicorns.

We thought this would be a catchup day for smaller bits of E3 news, but a couple of things have crossed the news desk that we didn't expect.

GameStop Begins Selling Retro Games, Consoles

After a few months of rumors, GameStop has begun to sell NES, SNES and N64 games and systems online.

The Nintendo platforms come along with Sega Genesis, PlayStation and Dreamcast games, with prices starting at approximately $7 for the more common games and ranging to $90 for Chrono Trigger or $80 for Conker's Bad Fur Day.

There does not appear to be any indication of the product quality, so it will not be guaranteed that the games will come with a box and manual, nor the condition of the cartridge itself.

Rumor: Rare Amiibo Restock Coming Wednesday

According to a well-placed source, GameStop may see the rare Amiibo recently reprinted as soon as this Wednesday.

A tweet from noted deal hunter @Wario64 of Siftd Games revealed the potential restock, specifically mentioning Wii Fit Trainer as a possibility.

In the replies to the tweet, an alleged confirmation comes from three GameStop district managers claiming a rare and several uncommon ones.

Nintendo Hints At New 3DS, Faceplates For North America

According to an interview at Kotaku, North America may yet get the smaller New 3DS and its faceplates.

Speaking to editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo, NOA president Reggie Fils-Amie said "We thought the new XL and 2DS would be our best line-up. Not going to make any promises but, you know, I would suggest to your readers that they stay tuned and maybe some special SKUs might show up." The term "special SKU" may also apply to special editions such as the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate New 3DS XL.

Further down the interview, Fils-Amie also indicated that more New 3DS exclusives would come digitally, such as the previously confirmed Binding of Isaac Rebirth and LifeSpeed, which our own Bryan Rose previewed last week at E3.

Quick Hits

  • Last week's issue of Famtisu featured an announcement of Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life 2 by Bandai Namco. The game is a sequel to the game localized by Nintendo as Disney Magical World, and more details are expected at an event in Japan on July 6.
  • An article from a French website confirmed that a four player minecart adventure called SuperMineBoyZ will come from Android to the Wii U.
  • ArcanePixel has confirmed that their Wii U eShop title Tiny Galaxy has passed NOA lotcheck, opening the door to a release in the near future.
  • Aksys Games has been running a countdown timer since March, and it appears to end at the start of Aksys's panel at Anime Expo LA on Friday, July 3. References in the code of the site point to a potential follow-up to 2012's 3DS visual novel puzzle game Virtue's Last Reward.

It kind of bugs me that you're using a screenshot of the PS1 Chrono Trigger's anime opening when talking about the cost of an SNES cartridge version of Chrono Trigger  :P:

That was the far more functional/affordable DS version, thank you very much. :p
