Faked Footage of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 3D Emerges

A Reddit leak claiming to show footage of a 3DS remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door emerged today, just a few short days before April Fool’s Day.

The video claiming to show the leak was removed, but two images purport to show the boot sequence and a battle screen. The Intelligent Systems logo is missing from the logo, and some of the scenes of the battle don’t match the original game’s battle backgrounds.

The alleged footage ran on an original 3DS, implying the game would not be a New 3DS exclusive as a previous 3DS up-port (Xenoblade 3D) is.

First eShop Update Of April Begins To Take Shape

A long awaited retro platformer will make its way to the eShop for Wii U next week, while 3DS owners will be staring down a sequel to an eShop RPG, according to Nintendo’s game pages.

Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures features the titular James Rolfe character in a retro-styled platformer inspired by the many terrible NES games reviewed on the ScrewAttack series. As one of the few games on Nintendo’s website to be age-gated, expect a lot of scatological humour and language. The game will sell for $9.99 starting on April 2, and NWR TV will have footage of the game based on its Steam release soon.

Excave II is the sequel to February’s dungeon-crawler release, promising more dungeons than the original release as well as new enemies to slay. Excave II will launch at $10 next Thursday.

Atlus Announces Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 Bonuses; Shows Off Record Breaking Fate System

Atlus has made a couple of announcements related to upcoming RPG sequels.

The first is that the first-print bonuses for the recently announced Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 have been confirmed. The first run of physical copies will include a 22 page artbook, as well as a soundtrack sampler featuring early versions of Untold’s remixed music and a comic.

Before that, Atlus released a new trailer for Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker showing off the game’s Fate system. Similar to the social link system in other SMT-universe games, the system provides rare demons for fusion and also affects who in your story lives or dies. Record Breaker releases on May 5, and we’ll have a hands-on preview of the final game in the weeks ahead.

• How do we cross March Madness and the NWR Staff Smash Bros League into one story? Well, the undefeated (thus far…) Kentucky Wildcats are apparently having their own Smash league. Except they use the N64 version, where the Pikachu are broken.
• The Pokemon Symphonic Evolution, much like Symphony of the Goddess, has announced a new set of concert dates. On the menu includes stops in London, New York, and a Boston stop during the 2015 World Pokemon Championships.
