Splatoon Amiibo are a possibility, free DLC for Monster Hunter is out, and more!

Today's news features yet even more Amiibo news, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate DLC details, and other news bits for the day!

Pokemon, Splatoon Amiibo On the Way?

Since yesterday we mentioned that more Amiibo are set for arrival after wave 4, looks like we might get an idea of what wave 5 might be. A South African retailer has put preorder pages for Greninja, Jigglypuff, Splatoon Boy and Splatoon Girl. This seems to indicate that a Splatoon series of Amiibo is set to arrive, possibly around the same time the game is release. We haven't heard word yet from Nintendo if this is the case or not.

Our Take: "Seems like a good idea to do. Splatoon is a new IP, and since Amiibos are hot right now this will be a good chance to see if there is a correlation between Amiibo and software sales. Interesting!" - Bryan Rose

"Nintendo needs to show commitment to Splatoon in order to get the Wii U's limited install base to buy into it and Amiibo would certainly help. However I'd really like an Olimar Amiibo if it's not too much to ask." - John Rairdin

First Batch of Monster Hunter 4 DLC Out

Over the course of the next several months, Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate will be receiving free monthly DLC updates. The first is a Legend of Zelda themed collaboration with new quests, enemies, weapons, gear and more!

The PR email released this morning states "Players can take on a challenging monster trio to claim the Triforce and craft Link’s Hero armor, and take on the fiery wyvern Akantor to collect the Goddess’s Fire which can be used to craft the “Hero’s Sword” and “Hero’s Bow” weapons. Also available now are new quests that yield crafting items for the two winning designs from the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Weapon Design contest: the steampunk style “Clockwork Insect Glaive” and the adorable Poogie throne—er, horn—the “Emperor’s Speech Hunting Horn.”"

Our Take: "This is some pretty cool DLC for fans of both series. Hopefully we'll be seeing more themed DLC as the months go day. Sounds like a hell of a deal!" - Bryan Rose

And some other news for the day:

  • On NeoGAF, word is getting around that production for the upcoming wave 4 amiibos have only lasted a month, meaning they will be rare upon release. This hasn't been confirmed by Nintendo, however.
  • If you are looking for a good deal on a Wii U bundle, Nintendo is selling a refurbished Wii U Deluxe bundle with Super Mario 3D World and Nintendoland for $225.
  • An update for Pokemon Shuffle is out featuring various bug fixes.

Oh good, I don't care about any of those Amiibos. Now I won't have to fight scalpers.
