Final Club Nintendo Rewards Revealed

Cash in those coins while you still can!

Nintendo has revealed the final batch of Club Nintendo rewards that gamers can cash their coins in for before the service shuts down later this year.

Physical items include goodies like a retro Mario t-shirt, a Majora's Mask 3D messenger bag, and a few different poster sets. There are plenty of digital game offers, too. From retro titles like the original F-Zero to more recent releases including The Wonderful 101, there are a whole lot of different titles to choose from.

Be sure to redeem those coins by June 30, as Nintendo is shutting down the service at that time.

I'd love to, as soon as Iwata gets around to feeding the hamsters that apparently run Club Nintendo, the Virtual Console, and 3rd party relations.

It's kind of sad that Club Nintendo's only worthwhile rewards month is years is also its last, but there's definitely some great stuff in there.

fred13February 02, 2015

If you have the time and patience to do it you can do it. I just ordered the second version of the smash bros posters (I had to once I saw that Shulk is the center of attention on one of the posters and Mario is on the other while the duck hunt poster is just gravy) I kept trying over and over until it logged me in. Then once in I kept right clicking and opening a new tab until it actually opened the right page and then clicked order back (browser back button) order back order back until I clicked order and it worked. Yes it was a pain, but I couldn’t just wait around and have someone else get all of those and not me.

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorFebruary 02, 2015

I've been trying all morning.  Got my puzzle ordered.  Can't get the new posters ordered.  Need to finish out some surveys for the trading cards... guh.

purevalFebruary 02, 2015

I like some of the rewards, although they are not as good as I was hoping. I am kicking myself for not ordering that Luigi statue when I had the chance. Silly me thought it was the start of a trend and decided to hold off for a game I liked more. I was hoping for a Zelda statue.

Thinking about ordering the messenger bag and Smash 2 poster set. Then a couple of games. I want Wonderful 101 but prefer disc games to digital. I might wait on the game until I see what the Platnium reward is. I would hate to waste coins on something they will give me for "free" later on.

Leo13February 02, 2015

Does anyone know when they are going to announce the platinum rewards?

I think they said that'd be in April.

Unfortunately, whether or not Nintendo will have the Club Nintendo website up by then is anyone's guess.

Thanks. I just spent all my coins, but I hit platinum this year so I was just curious

kokumakerFebruary 02, 2015

I've been trying to access the website for five hours. FIVE HOURS. Beyond pissed at this point.

Mop it upFebruary 02, 2015

I think I'll wait for the madness to settle before I try getting into the site.

kokumakerFebruary 02, 2015

Seven hours. Club Nintendo is still completely inaccessible. This is absolute bullshit.

PhilPhillip Stortzum, February 02, 2015

I was awake when the rewards were updated, so I managed to cash in my coins on Dr. Luigi, Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger, and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity!

Leo13February 02, 2015

Sorry guys it only took me about 20min to get my posters. I did have to open about a hundred tabs and hit refresh and back over a hundred times each, but I got my posters before they sold out

ejamerFebruary 02, 2015

I don't understand the rush to cash in coins for digital rewards that are available in unlimited quantity.  In fact, it makes far more sense to wait and see what Gold/Platinum rewards are going to be if you are only downloading digital games anyway.

Of course, for people interested in the (limited) physical goods I fully understand trying desperately to get into the Club Nintendo site before those are gone.

broodwarsFebruary 02, 2015

You have to "love" how apparently the only way to actually get any rewards today was to essentially DDOS attack a site that already falls over at the slightest hint at interest, ensuring that once again only the Ebay scalpers can get to any of the physical rewards. Nintendo, they competence is indeed boundless.

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorFebruary 02, 2015

I got a physical reward ordered through the site today.
I am not an eBay scalper.
Thus, your statement is incorrect.

I managed to pull an order off for one of the physical items this morning and they quoted me delivery of 2-4 months, implying they'll print what's ordered and that's it. So would everybody chill out already?

ShyGuyFebruary 02, 2015

You guys all need to get off club.nintendo.com so I can get my games.

kokumakerFebruary 02, 2015

What ShyGuy said, god damn it. NINE hours, now, and I still can't through.

CaterkillerMatthew Osborne, Contributing WriterFebruary 02, 2015

I thought for sure I was platinum already, I'm not even gold! Yikes!

Man I want those posters! I think I got every set for the last billion years and this set I want the most.

Will Bayonetta give me rewards? I purchased the game and I have no idea where I put it! I kept switching it out in the Smash Bros case and just completely misplaced the Bayonnetta 2 case.

The day that Nintendo shows it has even the slightest notion that they know what they're doing, I won't need to harp on them for their incompetence. It should not take me 12+ hours to access a goddamn website, especially when Nintendo knows that it's going to see high traffic on it and could allocate resources accordingly. But that's not how Nintendo operates. It requires effort.

I hate Nintendo when they're deliberately idiotic. This morning, I was prepared to praise them for a genuinely sweet lineup of games & physical rewards on the site, but 12 hours of no-service later it's rather impossible to praise Nintendo for anything. And Nintendo wonders why they're sliding off into irrelevancy, despite the good things they do.

Very true! I do very much agree with you, but I think after the 80th (I know I'm exaggerating on the number) time, your argument becomes increasingly less powerful as it goes on. It gets to the point where people will just skim your posts, no matter if they are full of truth and facts or not, and miss out on your thoughts. It'll be, like, "oh, here's broodwars complaining about Nintendo for the 219th time" instead of them focusing on your actual argument.

*sigh*

Yeah, I know, and that's part of the reason I don't post much on the forums anymore. They're just the most frustrating company I've ever seen. It's like they have a company directive to perform a massive ****up for every good thing they do. They can't just do a good thing and leave us all happy. It makes it downright aggravating to be a fan.

PhilPhillip Stortzum, February 02, 2015

Well, I appreciate your posts regardless. Between the lack of a regular New Nintendo 3DS in North America, the complete laughable release schedule or lack thereof with the Amiibo line, the absolute incompetence of the Wii U launch everywhere, and the handling of the last years of the Wii (just to name a few things), it's very hard to like Nintendo A LOT of times. If it weren't for the quality of their games, Nintendo would not have it so lucky to be able to be as stupid as they are the majority of the time.

broodwarsFebruary 02, 2015

On a more positive note, once I can get access to the website, I have my eyes on Wonderful 101, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus Uprising, Doc Louis' Punch Out, and maybe that Majora's Mask puzzle. On a side note, I wonder if we'll get coins for those games.

SorenFebruary 02, 2015

I'm wondering the same thing. W101 is an old game and could probably net you 50-60 coins. Club Nintendo games did net you coins last year.

Here Lies Club Nintendo: It Died as it Lived.

KhushrenadaFebruary 03, 2015

I've got 100 tabs all logged into Club Nintendo. I'm not trying to buy anything. Just keep others from accessing the site. It's part of the reason why I've been able to singlehandedly destroy this program.

Why the hell is Star Fox 64 3D more coins than 3D Land, NSMB2 or DKCR3D?

NemoFebruary 03, 2015

Does anyone know how many coins Wonderful 101 is worth? If I get it, I think it'll give me just enough to get something else.

Triforce HermitFebruary 03, 2015

Wonderful 101 is 600 coins.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been able to do stuff on Club Nintendo perfectly fine aside from awful load times for the rewards page.

AdrockFebruary 03, 2015

I stupidly didn't register my remaining games last week so I tried last night with the site choking on itself. Here's a hint that may help: try logging in around 4am EST. Traffic is much lighter so I was able to register my games with minimal issues. It was still slower than normal and I had to deal with a few snags. Still, I hit Platinum about an hour and a half ago. I still have to do the post-game surveys in a couple days. Of course, it helps that I was awake anyway since my shift starts at 5am now (it's a lot more awesome than it sounds).

I'm a big supporter of Club Nintendo as a rewards program. Still, I can admit that it functioned poorly under stress. I get the impression that the physical rewards will not run out. Based on the oddly egregious shipping time, it seems like Nintendo is taking all the orders then manufacturing the items which (ignoring that it would have been nice if it did that before) is the fairest way of handling the end of the Club Nintendo rewards program. This way, everyone has a shot of scoring physical rewards.

Besides Paper Mario, I haven't decided what rewards I want. Right now, I have about 1300 coins. I have the post-game surveys on five games, and I may still have another game or two to register.

broodwarsFebruary 03, 2015

24 hours later, the site is still down, though I managed to redeem a single reward this morning. Sadly, I have 3-4 more to try to get out of this broken website.

Physical copies of Star Fox 64 3D are out of print and currently in demand. Same for Kid Icarus. Not sure that is a reasonable justification... but NoA is very familiar with the idea of limiting supply to increase demand.

Curiosity: Are the prices on eShop identical for the different games?

You won't like the answer, but if you really want to get on just wake up a bit earlier.  At 7am Atlantic time the site worked perfectly - you avoid competing traffic and everything runs exactly as it's supposed to.  Obviously that's not convenient... but if you really want to get in it'll work.

Interesting to note that it seemed as if no physical items have sold out yet. Many of the new items had a warning that images weren't final and that shipping estimates were 3-5 months. Makes me wonder if they haven't been created yet and all orders now are just preorders so they know how many to make.  (This might not apply for a few older items like posters.)

Star Fox is $40 w/NSMB2, 3D Land is $30 and DKCR is $35. So the real outlier is NSMB2.

(Note that on Wii U, W101 is $30 and Wii Party U is $50.)

So it seems. While the site was still continuously crashing, I was just now able to order 3/4 items I was intending to purchase from Club Nintendo. I'm going to sit on DL's Punch out till I have 25 more coins so I have enough for the Majora's Bag, too. No one should have to fight that hard to make a site perform its basic function, but I got the main things I care about submitted.

ejamerFebruary 03, 2015

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of awesome that the Greeting Cards are still there? Weren't those one of the first rewards offered? Yet even when there were no other physical rewards available they continued to sit and wait to be picked. Nobody wanted them... nobody.

Or am I wrong? Maybe it's that they were so popular, NoA chose to continually reorder and keep them in stock despite rabid sales?

JRokujuushiFebruary 03, 2015

I'm not sure I trust the coin counter. I logged in yesterday, it said I had 300 coins until gold.  I registered Captain Toad, it said I had 30 coins until gold.  I highly doubt Captain Toad is worth 270 coins.  I tried again a few hours later, it said I still needed 300 for gold again.  Haven't tried it yet today, so no telling what it says I need now.

there is literally one game left for sale that has a code that I would be interested in buying, Mario Kart 8 and I am not going to rush out and pay the 60 bucks just to get enough coins to download one more NES game I can live without. I spent all my coins I had saved up on getting an NES Remix 2 T-Shirt. I am actually pretty happy with that even though it doesn't exactly fit.

It's $45 on the eShop until noon EST tomorrow.

Right now is the 3rd time i've tried since the new rewards have been announced, and the farthest I get is to a load screen between the login page & getting into my account.

Basically the only way i've read that people could reliably log-into Club nintendo is between 1AM - 6 AM EST, which I can't do.  I know it's not urgent for me to get in, redeem more coins, and select the digital games I want, but it's a bit disappointing that in 2 days since the games have been announced, it's been impossible to even do the bare minimum.

Whatever rewards program they change to in the future, they need to make sure it's not tied to a website, if this is how well they're going to maintain the website.
