All four generations of Smash at one massive event.

Nintendo is partnering with Team Apex to sponsor an upcoming Smash Bros. event.

"We are pleased to announce that #Apex2015 is partnering with @NintendoAmerica to bring an incredible #SmashBros event," Team Apex said in a post on Twitter.

The event, dubbed Apex 2015, will take place from January 30 to February 1 in Secaucus, NJ and will include tournaments for all four console versions of Super Smash Bros., as well as Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Additionally, Ultra Street Fighter 4 and Killer Instinct will be there for competitive play.

Talkback

Apex was a tournament originally made for Brawl players exclusively, but grew the more years it was out there. It's where Ally really came into his own when he bested Mew2King in Brawl Finals.

Nice to see Nintendo giving more support to the communities that are passionate about their games.

However, a quick glance at the Facebook comments on an article about this news on the Apex site shows some people in discontent. Mainly that the modified game, Project M, will not be in the official tournament. As a casual observer to this, I can only express curiosity and bemusement.
