Monado lend us your power, and also maybe your wallet.

Certain amiibo figures will be exclusive to different retailers, starting with Wave 3.

Wave 3 figures, slated for a February 2015 release, will be the first to be available as specific retailer exclusives. This info comes from a video on Nintendo of America's YouTube channel, which says that a "certain number" of these figures will be exclusives with Nintendo's retail partners. So far the only one we know of being an exclusive is Shulk which is listed as a GameStop exclusive on the GameStop website.

That Shulk figure just became a lot less attractive. In record time as well!

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that Nintendo polled retailers asking what figures they'd be interested in stocking, and Gamestop was the only retailer who knew who Shulk WAS since they were the exclusive retailer for Xenoblade in NA, so they ended up with the exclusivity for that figure.

Shulk being GameStop-exclusive is just incredible, Sakurai-level trolling.

Don't care, still buying. Just as long as they aren't assholes with the pricing.

See with normal DLC I can just go online and buy it.  I don't have to drive all around town hitting up different stores because they all have their own exclusives.  At least you get a toy out of it, if you're interested in that sort of thing, but the whole thing is like taking a very modern concept and applying annoying 20th century restrictions to it.

It's official, when the 3rd wave hits I'll be going to gamestop.
I don't think I've ever bought anything at gamestop, but I don't care Xenoblade is my all time favorite video game and Shulk is the only Amiibo I've decided for sure I'm going to get.
