The first details, and English trailer, for a Pokémon collaboration we knew was in the works.

Pokkén Tournament, a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Bandai Namco, was officially announced today. Pokkén Tournament will be a Tekken-style fighting game starring Pokémon characters. The new game will first be released in Japanese arcades in 2015.

While no Western release has been confirmed, The Pokémon Company did release an English trailer hinting that the title may see the light of day outside of Japan.

This isn’t the first time we have heard about Pokkén Tournament. Previously, several trademarks were filed for the name and an extremely short teaser video was shown at a past Pokémon event.

Today’s trailer showed a Lucario facing off against a Machamp. The previously released teaser trailer also showed a Blaziken.

They need to do something with Machamp.  It looks terrible.  The top 2 arms look like there just a really weird backpack.  Not part of him.  Need to be in the mix more.

Pretty weird that this is a real thing.  Obviously as an arcade game it will make no impact in the West but you figure a Wii U port would be expected.  Though the Namco arcade Mario Karts never came home so who knows?

I am surprised.

Had to go to Disney World to play the Mario Kart arcade games for the first time.  I would later find one in a Dave & Busters.

Not holding my breath to play this one.

Arcades are the new IOS?

Hurrah! This leaves the Pikachu detective game being largely unknown.

I don't know if that can be helped much. The design was for an RPG that did not need to think about detailed movement.

With Mario Kart Arcade, there were already Mario Kart games on Nintendo systems. Pokken doesn't have a competitor on Nintendo systems so I fully expect the game to make its way there.

The back arms should follow a little bit the front two whenever they do something.  When you block they should all be used which they weren't in this video.  I don't think Machamp would have my pic for the first one.  In fact I probably do the classic Hitmolee vs Hitmochan.

I'd buy this if it were a $20 download.

I'll but it if it was a $10 download.

Yeah, why would you pay more for a game with such a weak choice in characters for the debut trailer?

marvel_moviefan_2012August 26, 2014

I am not much of a Pokemon fan but this looks like a game I would play since I love Tekken games already.

Supper street fighter and Mortal Combat
are both better then Tekken.

Preaching to the choir buddy, MK is my favorite game series of all time. Except you spelled it wrong forgot the K.

I read some questions they were answering and there are no High/Low attacks because they want it to appeal to more casual players. What? Since when do casual players make such discerning choices as to buy based on something as technical as that? All they are doing is cutting out higher level players thinking that alone makes it more casual friendly. I was excited for this before I found this out.
