In addition to Imageepoch handling animations, a few Nintendo employees from the New Super Mario Bros. team helped Arzest out on the game.

Nintendo developers from the New Super Mario Bros. series helped out developer Arzest on Yoshi's New Island.

In addition to Takashi Tezuka, the legendary Nintendo developer who produced all of the New Super Mario Bros. and Yoshi's Island games, some of the developers include:

  • Nobuo Matsumiya, who was the director of Yoshi's Island DS and worked on level designs for New Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Yuya Sato, a level designer on New Super Luigi U and New Super Mario Bros. 2
  • Kenta Usui, a level designer on New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. U, and New Super Luigi U
  • Toyokazu Nonaka, who was most recently a producer on the new StreetPass games

The development studio Imageepoch helped on Yoshi's New Island as well, specifically with animations. Imageepoch has previously worked on Arc Rise Fantasia (Wii), the Luminous Arc series (DS), and more.

The main developer on Yoshi's New Island is Arzest, a studio made up of former Artoon employees, which is in turn, made up of former Sega employees. Artoon developed Yoshi's Island DS, FlingSmash, and more with Nintendo. The director of Yoshi's New Island is Arzest's Masahide Kobayashi. You can read more about him in our profile on him.

This will probably go either way for people, but I think the NSMB series generally has good level design, so I think it's a good sign.

Imagepooch? Oh god.
