But each version will have exclusive trophies!

Trophies will be retuning in the next installments of the Super Smash Bros. series releasing on Wii U and 3DS in 2014.

This information comes from the official Super Smash Bros. site where a trophy featuring Saria was shown for the 3DS. Masahiro Sakurai, the game's director, said that both versions of the game will have exclusive trophies. The Wii U version will feature trophies based on home console games while the 3DS version will feature trophies based on handhelds.

I still think it's silly that Ocarina of Time is being counted strictly as a handheld title.

Well that trophy is a model taken from Ocarina of Time 3D which was a handheld title.  There's nothing stopping them from using the N64 character models for the Wii U game since that's the home console version.

Thanks, detective. I don't think I would have ever, ever noticed that if you didn't point that out...

While I understand that both versions have exclusive content depending the platform, I simply think Ocarina of Time is a poor choice for this separation. It appears to be counted strictly as a handheld game when it was originally a console game. Gerudo Valley has only been shown in the 3DS version. I suppose the stage could very well be in both versions, but I doubt it. Not that this is a big deal or anything, I just think it's silly and strange. Ocarina of Time should be counted as both console and handheld (and it may though it seems unlikely). Otherwise, I personally think it's more appropriate to be counted as a console game since it was release on a console first.

This is the part that peeves me about Wii U owners. You guys get to have Skyloft in the Wii U version of Smash 4. 3DS owners won't.

Let us have Gerudo Valley for fu*ks sake.

Besides, my guess for why they are counting OoT 3D moreso than the original N64 version is because OoT3D is the most up-to-date and relevant version of the game. It is also considered by many fans to be the definitive version with the completely updated graphics and updated master quest and better controls. I loved the original. But they are going with OoT 3D. And that was a HANDHELD.

Anyway again as I said. Wii U owners- Skyloft. 3DS owners- Gerudo Valley. Fair is fair.

This is just like when some Wii U owner complained that they wanted A Link Between Worlds on Wii U. Yet the Wii U is already getting Hyrule Warriors AND Zelda Wii U.

Gotta let 3DS owners have SOMETHING. And I'm personally happy they are counting OoT as more of a handheld these days.

Is this for real? You're making a pretty bold assumption about me and other Wii U owners. I'm have a Wii U and a 3DS; I will be getting both versions. On top of that, I like my 3DS more.

We are getting something. 3DS has the Spirit Train Zelda stage which absolutely makes sense. Fair is fair. I just think it's silly to use Ocarina of Time as the basis for platform exclusive content when it's not a platform exclusive game. I get why they're counting it as a 3DS game; I just disagree with it. Why not have a Link's Awakening stage? Maybe there will be one. Again, not a big deal; I'd rather they use actual platform exclusive games for platform exclusive content if that's the direction they want to go.

No surprise here. I liked trophies in Melee but I didn't in Brawl. I think what changed for me in that span of time is that the Internet started providing better images and information than what the trophies offered, so it was no longer something neat. That probably seems like a strange reason to not like them, but it is what it is.
