More Street Fighter than you can toss a hadouken at.

Street Fighter fans, rejoice! You now have a selection of not one, not two, but three Street Fighter II games on your Wii U! You even get a discount if you buy all three, although I'm a little puzzled as to why someone would want to own all three versions of one game. But, to each their own, I suppose. If that's not enough for you, then Ryu Hayabusa's second outing is available for the 3DS.

If you, like me, already own all the Virtual Console games released this week, then you're invited to join me in my underground bunker as I patiently await the deluge of releases coming this fall. Bring snacks.

3DS Retail Games

Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff - $29.99, Available August 27.

Wii U Retail Games

3DS eShop Games

Wakedas - $2.99

Any game that boasts "serene sounds" as a feature is okay in my book. All you rageaholics out there should pick this up and settle in for some nice, peaceful puzzle-solving on your favorite handheld. Maybe skip the harder levels though. I saw what you did to your DS over Tetris DS.

Funfair Party Games - $19.99

Wait, don't go! This mini-game collection is different! You can pit your Mii against a slew of multiplayer or single player attractions as well as use the gyroscope in your 3DS to aim darts and other fun objects! Actually that does sound like all the other mini-game collections, now that I think about it.

FISH ON 3D - $9.99

Fishing enthusiasts have been getting quite a selection on the 3DS! FISH ON 3D featured a mind-boggling 400 lures and 75 titles. Heck, I didn't even know there were enough kinds of fish to necessitate 400 lures, but that's just the kind of attention to detail that you'll get in FISH ON 3D.

3DS Virtual Console

Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos - $4.99

Some crazy stuff has gone down and it's Ryu's job to set things right once again. The evil Ashtar is plotting to take over the world, but you and I both know we're not about to let that happen. Grab your sword and your Ninja clones and go kick some butt!

Wii U Virtual Console

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior - $7.99

The original Street Fighter II that took the world by storm! Fight your way from country to country with the original eight combatants complete with old-school, slow-moving characters and hilarious character portraits.

Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting - $7.99

Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting introduced the bosses from the previous entry as playable characters, boosting the roster count to twelve. More impressively though is the ability to adjust the game speed, thus why this is the Turbo edition. Many fans still consider this version to be the best on the SNES despite.

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - $7.99

Twelve characters can get pretty boring pretty fast, so Super Street Fighter II upped the ante with four new ones. With some new locations, and improved graphics, this is a definite improvement over the original formula and another contender for best version of Street Fighter II on the SNES.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars I've been wanting you ever since I heard you were similar to Advance Wars Days of Ruin. I may finally get you now.

of course they have a double dipper sale.
tbh if i do get multiple versions of that game i'd rather get one of the genesis versions.

Bman87301August 22, 2013

Having all three versions of SFII priced the same ridiculous enough since each subsequent one made the previous one obsolete... but actually offering a "triple dip discount" is a blatant scam since there's absolutely NO benefit to owning any version other than "Super", let alone all three together.

yoshi1001August 22, 2013

Technically (with a code) Turbo is significantly faster than Super, but I'd definitely say the music in Super is the best of the three. Also, the description in the eShop says Super supports online play (it had hooks for XBAND similar to the Genesis Super SFII)-confusingly listed as "local multiplayer". I'll have to test it out and see.

I was wondering when we'd get SFII considering Capcom's other support for the Wii U VC. Maybe the CPS2 Super Turbo or Hyper (an anniversary edition with every playable version of each character from each edition of SFII) is next.

Yes, seeing as how that's the version with online play on VC.

Eh...maybe thematically similar, but in terms of gameplay it's much much closer to Fire Emblem, with characters levelling up, etc..

It's a fun game, and pretty long (about 40 hours).  My only issues with it were that the extra missions were stupid and not worthwhile, the game becomes far too easy because of the "recon" unit (the camoflauge girl, can't remember her name), and the way they up the difficulty in the late game is super cheap and lazy (lots and lots of drones).

Nothing this week, which is fine since I have Earthbound to get through.

yoshi1001August 22, 2013

Well, I couldn't find any way in the software to play online (checked the manual), so either it's a misprint, coming later, or because I don't have anyone on my friends list.

The Virtual Console SNES version didn't have online. Only the Genesis VC version.

I like the idea even if I'm not going to repurchase Street Fighter.  Let's start doing 3 games a week for Wii VC with discounts and themes are great.  DK1, DK2, DK3, trifecta of Zeldas, Sonics 1-3.  There are a bunch of series that could benefit from this.

Thanks for the heads up. I just bought Fire Emblem Awakening and I really like it, but I'm not a fan of the leveling up stuff so maybe I'll just enjoy Fire Emblem and skip Shadow Wars.

Hopefully Intelligent Systems is making the next Advance Wars game right now I own and love 3 of the 4 (Dual Strike and Days of Ruin both came out during my dirt broke poor college years when I didn't buy video game stuff and when I was past that point I found Days of Ruin at Best Buy, but no Dual Strike)
