Things are looking great for the little 3D handheld.

David Gibson, a research analyst, tweeted during a Nintendo analyst briefing that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has boosted US 3DS sales by four times versus the prior week, and has set a new digital sales record in the eShop.

In related 3DS news, a Nintentendo analyst briefing stated that the market share of the system in the UK has grown to 19% in between January and March, to 23% in April, and to 26% in May.

Nintendo expects the 3DS lineup next year to be strong with less "intervals driven by [first] party titles," and plans to turn 28 thousand US (and 24 thousand European) wifi access points into what they call StreetPass relay stations to boost StreetPass usage.

Yeah... this StreetPass Relay Station thing sounds very interesting!  Someone at E3, please ask around about it!

Wow! Streetpass may actually become really useful outside Japan if this is what I'm thinking it will be. :) No more waiting for Cons and other large gatherings in hopes of getting streetpasses.

I have this vision of a machine that basically takes StreetPass data from every system that it comes across and spits out the last 10 systems it comes across in exchange.

And I want it.
