Six years after the console's launch, Nintendo sees fit to introduce this much requested functionality.

A first-party Nintendo Wii Remote rechargeable battery pack and charger will be released in Japan July 13.

Nintendo promises that using this set, a Wii Remote will regain one hour of play time after nine minutes of charge time, while a full 90 minute charge will allow for 13 hours of gaming.

The bundle of the charge stand and one battery pack will retail for 4200 yen, while additional battery packs will be 2625 yen.

I'm quite happy with this. I will be getting 2 of these battery packs.

I wish they would bundle this with a Wii Remote.

Nintendo: "We have just agreed... I have told your names to the Entmoot, and we have agreed you are not orcs."

This doesn't seem too useful now unless Nintendo really uses the Wiimotes a lot with the Wii U.

Then, yes, this is very useful. Every multiplayer Wii U game Nintendo has shown uses Wii Remotes.

Well played, sir.

I'm thinking of picking some of these up once my rechargeable batteries start to lose their charge time. I had the Nyko rechargeable kit, but it wasn't particularly good, and it lost its charge after just a few dozen times. Here's hoping Nintendo's kit is better crafted!

So appropriate ;D .

I'll be picking up 4 of these, the nyko ones I bought at the Wii's launch barely hold a charge longer than a few hours anymore.

Better late than never.

When will these be released outside of Japan?
