The dev says that a fix is currently being tested at Nintendo.
A fix is in development which would allow LostWinds to be transferred from Wii to Wii U via the official transfer process. Currently, the game license and software will not transfer to Wii U.
Frontier, the developer of LostWinds, stated on Twitter, that the problem was merely something that couldn't be fixed before launch, and that a fix was currently being tested at Nintendo. No details were provided as to what the nature of the problem was.
The game's sequel, LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias, transfers over to Wii U without any problem.
