Did the previous Wii versions get his treatment? I don't think they did, but i'm not sure. I am glad EA Sports is doing this, it at least makes it look like the Wii version is treated the same as the others.

I'm pretty sure they didn't, but the rosters are way more messed up since they couldn't take into account what happened post-lockout.

Basically, usually free agency and trades happen in February/March. This year it happened in late July. Madden's disc-based rosters are locked down before then.
