Retro Studios Assisting With Mario Kart 3DS

The upcoming Mario Kart game will feature input from Retro Studios.

At Nintendo's Roundtable Meeting today, it was revealed that the upcoming Mario Kart 3DS will feature input from Retro Studios, in regards to various track designs. 

Mario Kart 3DS arrives in North America later this year.

It would be awsome to see another Metroid cameo from the Metroid Prime Series. I would love to race in Valhalla jumping around everywhere and maybe even use the magnet rails

Yeah seriously, an unlockable Metroid-themed track needs to happen.

This makes sense, especially since there were members of the Tiki Tak Tribe in the trailer video.

I just hope assisting doesn't mean making. I really want Retro to have creative freedom without being put in a box.

I think it means just that, assisting, if they were developing it they woudl have used different terminology (Like NExt Level doing Luigi's Mansion).

This does seem a bit random. What do Retro know about designing racetracks? Then again, what do they know about platformers... or shooters. This could be very interesting indeed, looking forward to see their track designs.

The same could be said for Miyamoto when he assisted Retro with Metroid Prime. What does he know about FPS? The fact is that Retro is a talented studio, that is all they need.
