Tactile bridge crossing and weapon selection included in Snake's 3D adventure.

Gyroscopic control and touch screen are options in Metal Gear Solid 3D, according to Twitter posts by Hideo Kojima.

The series creator announced that he just completed playing the E3 demo for MGS3D, and that he had used the gyro controls on the 3DS unit to cross a rope bridge safely.

Also revealed was that the player will be able to select Snake's weapons via the touch screen.

He included an image of the game being played on the 3DS that shows both screens. The bottom screen appears to feature a map overlaid with inventory items, which are presumably the icons used to select Snake's equipment. The top screen shows Snake sneaking through high grass.

Kojima will not be at E3 next week. Instead MGS3D's producer, Yoshikazu Matsuhana will be present to promote the title.

Talkback

One hopes that the game controls better than Peace Walker does(n't) on PSP.

I like the idea of no HUD 3D screen. I know Snake Eater is supposed to be great, but as a novice in the franchise I'm not sure how much enjoyment I will get. I played and finished the gamecube Twin Snakes but that's the only game so I wonder if the story will make any sense to me or I'll be totally lost

Since MGS3 is a prequel to the entire series, you shouldn't be lost. It doesn't even feature a proper Metal Gear, so I wouldn't worry about it.

My biggest concerns are:
1) Will it in be in HD with better colors? Playing the PS2 game now (which I just recently did) is hard to do. It's muddy, grainy, and the character models are awkward.
2) Will it feature the Subsistence content?
3) Will it feature more on the touch-screen (on the fly) and less going into menus constantly?

Controls might be similar to how Legend of Zelda is being handled. Move all menu options to the touch screen. Use the motion controls where they make sense or in different ways. Balance in MGS and shooting in Zelda. I wonder if you'll be able to shoot while moving though. Resident Evil will have that so we know it's doable control wise.
