A new WayForward DSiWare game and the WiiWare release of MDK2 headline the four-game release slate.

WayForward's Mighty Milky Way leads the three-game DSiWare lineup this week, and MDK2 is the sole WiiWare release. There is still no word on the debut of the 3DS eShop.

The BioWare-developed MDK2, which originally came out for Dreamcast, PC, and PlayStation 2 in 2000 and 2001, is a action game where you control three different characters (Kurt Hectic, Dr. Hawkins, and a robot dog named Max) through 10 different levels involving platforming, combat, and more. MDK2 is available for 1,000 Wii Points ($10).

Mighty Milky Way, the third DSiWare game from WayForward, features puzzle-heavy gameplay where you must create and destroy planets to survive against T-Rex and other space monsters. It is available for 800 DSi Points ($8).

GO Series Tower of Deus, from Gamebridge, is a 200 DSi Point ($2) 2D platformer for DSiWare. The goal is to get to the top of the tower by completing 40 levels before the clock runs out

The last game this week for DSiWare is Whack-A-Friend, a somewhat-morbid 200 DSi Point ($2) game from Agetec. Using the DSi's camera, you take a picture of a friend and then play a touch screen-based game of Whack-A-Mole with their face. If you do well, their picture will appear bruised and bandaged.

Nintendo Download: At Home or On the Go, Space is the Place for Downloadable Adventure

Whether you’re roaming the city or camped out in the comfort of your living room, this week’s new downloadable games invite you to virtually venture toward outer space for some wild intergalactic action. Mighty Milky Way for the Nintendo DSiWare service sends players on a planet-hopping mission filled with intrigue and adventure. Meanwhile, on the WiiWare service, MDK2 features a trio of unlikely heroes who must join forces to protect Earth from a sinister alien threat. For fresh hand-held fun without the interstellar obstacles, a new retro-styled platformer and an irreverent picture-based game also make their Nintendo DSiWare debut this week.

Talkback

Another week and still no Final Fantasy 6 or Chrono Trigger.  *sigh*

So is anyone downloading MDK2?  Given the Wii Shop Channel's appalling file size limit, I'm curious if we have another Tales of Monkey Island on our hands with the conversion process.  I never played the Dreamcast original, but am kind of curious about this port if it is actually a good port.

motangMay 09, 2011

I am so getting MDK 2!  :D

MorariMay 09, 2011

If you've never played it before, I'd wait for the HD remake of MDK2 that's coming to the PC.

I still have my old Dreamcast and PC discs somewhere...

KDR_11kMay 09, 2011

HD remake? PC games are automatically in HD!

ThanerosMay 09, 2011

How the hell did they fit MDK2 as a Wiiware game?!

EnnerMay 09, 2011

Good 'Ole Games has its PC installer pegged at 220 MB. I guess the WiiWare release has some great fat trimming done to it.
$10 is a nice price, but GOG has MDK2 (PC) for $6. It's not much of a difference. I'm curious to read as to how good the WiiWare version is.
