Gamers in Japan are warned to pre-order their copy before shipments run out.

Nintendo will be shipping less than 150,000 copies of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Japanese launch, according to Sinobi.

The initial reports of Nintendo shipping the game in small numbers have greatly spurred pre-orders. Due to this, it is expected that Nintendo will ship more units of the game in order to meet the demand.

The Japanese website noted that Nintendo may have limited the supply of the title to prevent the game from quickly reaching the bargain bin, a problem that surfaced with previous Zelda releases in the country.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will be released in Japan on June 16.

The cynic in me thinks this was a way to boost sales of the game while the Nintendo fan in me just wants pretty 3d Zelda game!

I'm sort of waiting for the reviews that really hit this game hard.  From what I've seen and heard others impression that this game will be beer goggle nostalgia.  It be disjointing to see a 3DS level character living in an N64 world.  I'm going to have to see it in person.  All these videos, this limited run, etc is making me wary.  I'm sure I could find 150,000 people who buy a straight N64 port of OoT just to have it portable and the 3D would still lend itself.  As I said the more I hear the more of a weird feeling I'm getting from this.

I feel there is no need to worry, everyone who wants one will be able to get one. I doubt it will end up like Super Mario all-stars and have limited prints.

Zelda games haven't been doing well in Japan? I wonder what the reason is for that.

You know what they said that about?

The Wii.

I think its fake, totally a ploy to start the buzz 'omg its sold out, NOW I WANT ONE BECAUSE ITS SOLD OUT" mentality. I think a good number of people are like me and are interested because they love the game, but still not convinced to pay $40 for this so they are doing stuff to help generate buzz and get it off the shelves. "I better buy it NOW or else I won't be around." mentality is also at play.

They should totally write a book on gaming psychology / sociology

And you know what people said you wouldn't be able to get one if you wanted one?

The 3DS.

The gaming press will have that come up for a good while.
