Level-5's first game in the series has reached a new threshold.

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino revealed today via a tweet that Professor Layton and the Curious Village has sold more than one million copies in Japan.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the first game in the series and was released in Japan of February 15, 2007.

The total worldwide shipment numbers for the series currently sit at just over 11 million, though that figure is sure to rise as the recently released Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle for the Nintendo 3DS continues to sell well.

Strange. I guess I would have assumed it hit that number a long time ago.

I still haven't played it. ><

Really hoping a copy comes up on Goozex for me at some point.

A well deserved honor.

Pale, quit being a cheap-tard and go out and buy it. >:(

I think 70% of its sales have come from Europe.  They seem to love this series.

Thankfully.  I would have never got to watch (or understand, at least... could have imported the Japanese version) the Professor Layton movie without them...
