3DS Game Spine Labels Show Off System Menu Icon

The 3DS game cases show off a little bit more on their spine label than most game systems.

Nintendo seems to be giving gamers a little bit more with the 3DS even when its games are on the shelf.

Each 3DS game case's spine label has a small icon - used on the system's main menu to represent the game - alongside the usual game title and system name information.

For example, Madden NFL Football's spine features an up-close look at a football, while Pilotwings Resort's features a plane on a blue background.

Interesting... I wonder why that is.

Maybe to better familiarise people with each game's unique icon, why? Well my guess is so when you're viewing Mii's you StreetPass'ed in the Mii Plaza you can recognise what game it is that Mii is displaying.
Also in other system features like the 12 games you can choose to have information transferred in StreetPass mode.

Or, it just looks cool.

Yeah, I'm gonna go with "it just looks cool."

I suspect it's because society is becoming familiar with icons thanks to the app trend.
