DSi and 3DS users will be able to video chat with users locally and via Wi-Fi.

In a recent issue of CoroCoro magazine, a new feature for Pokemon Black and White called "Live Caster" has been revealed.

When Pokemon Black and White is played on a DSi or 3DS, players will be able to host a video chat with up to three other players, both locally and via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The ability can be obtained at a certain point in the game.

The magazine also offered details on the game's new features. One of these is a tag mode similar to the one featured in Dragon Quest IX. Named "Pass By Mode," the magazine doesn't state how the features aids the player in the game.

Finally, Pokemon Black and White will feature exclusive areas. These areas have been called the White Forest and the Black City.

Drawing penis in pictochat is now obsolete. Actually Showing your penis is the next threshold. chatroulette has nothing on this.

what they didn't tell you is that there will always be a 5th ghost viewer when used online.
So don't be surprised if someone comes knocking on your door

And the bizarre discrepancy between Nintendo's handheld online support and their console online support continues to widen.  I don't understand how Nintendo can be so cavalier with their online features for Pokemon, their most child-focused franchise, yet so stubborn about their online features in everything else.

I'm suddenly reminded of that running gag in Wall-E where all the people are video chatting with each other while they're riding along right next to each other on their little hovercarts.

Not just local.  Online as well.

I'm wondering if different people in the company make the final decisions depending on whether it involves consoles or portables.  Thinking about that now, Miyamoto is heavily involved in console games but less so in portable ones.  Maybe his influence affects the console online support.  And even if that's not at all the case the idea of someone having a lot of influence in one area but not so much in the other makes sense.  For a long time Nintendo has always seemed to be much more on the ball regarding portables than with consoles.  That lends some credibility to the idea that it isn't the same guys working with both "pillars".

At first I questioned the logic of...

... when you by design have to be within 20 feet of the other person.

Then I remembered the BlackBerry Helmet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bV7pM_HS70) and it all makes sense. It's an early warning system.

Do you still have to look the person directly in the eyes to challenge them?

It's really slow and laggy so I wouldn't say it's live. Maybe liveish? It's still a really neat feature though.  I'm more concerned that it'll open a door to online predators..Hopefully they'll make it available via friend's code online.

The game doesn't come out for another two months, so they can still work on it a little more (not much though). They can also improve it while working on the international versions.

*sigh*

This is the one time that I would want those stinkin friend codes in effect.

My children are 10 and 7 years old and they love Pokemon as much as I do.  If something "inappropriate" was to happen I would go bonkerz.

This is completely awesome. Voice chat was sweet, this is even better.

And what could possibly go wrong? :)

I don't know how this would be used, but the new issue of CoroCoro says this feature will also be used with NPC characters in the game. A ton of more info about the games were revealed (including details about uploading your game saves, and how you will get Pokemon from other regions) and I posted that in the official Black/White thread over in the Handheld section.

I fixed the link and I'm sure that will be one of the 3DS enhancements; smooth online chat due to more horsepower, ram & better online functionality
