Survive high school with Mega Man and Game and Watch games in this week's set of titles.

In this week's update, DSiWare gets the most titles, while Virtual Console and WiiWare only get one game each. The Virtual Console receives Capcom's Mega Man 4, originally released for the NES in 1992. Like past Mega Man titles, Mega Man 4 offers a high degree of shooting and platforming challenge at 500 Wii Points ($5.00).

WiiWare sees Bang Attack from Engine Software as its sole release this week. Bang Attack is a puzzle game in which players destroy objects with a hammer. The title features over 40 levels as well as a two player mode. The title will set players back 500 Wii Points ($5.00).

DSiWare receives three new Game and Watch games based on the classic LCD games of the same name: Game and Watch: Donkey Kong Kong Jr., Game and Watch: Flagman and Game and Watch: Ball. All titles cost 200 DSi Points ($2.00) to download.

From EA comes Surviving High School, an adventure title where the choices the player makes alters the story. It offers various episodes as well as alternate endings depending on how you play the game. Surviving High School is available for 800 DSi Points ($8.00).

The final game this week is myPostcards from Nnooo, a postcard app in which players can take pictures using the DSi's cameras, write notes and send them to other players as postcards. myPostcards can be downloaded for only 200 DSiPoints ($2.00).

Yes Megaman 4 is here!

Hey look! NO SHANTAE AGAIN!

Hey look! NO SHANTAE AGAIN!

It is getting annoying every week you say that. If you don't want to comment on the games that are shown than I would appreciate it if you didn't make a comment.
Besides you could be playing the GBC game while waiting or other games that might be in your backlog.

Mega Man 4 seems to get a bum rap for being a bad game in the series, but I'm not sure I understand that. It refined the elements of the previous games resulting in a polished title, but this also means that it is very similar and offers little new. The weapons are based mostly on ones from the other games, but are now much more balanced and useful than ever before (except maybe Dust Crusher). Most don't find the music to be up to the quality of the previous games, though I think it is still pretty good. That's probably the problem with the game, it had to follow Mega Man 2 and 3 which is tough, plus it was slightly shorter than MM3. It's a good game in its own right, so I don't think it should be slandered just because it isn't Mega Man 2.

Yeah, it is getting annoying, Maxi.

Very annoying.

And yes, MM4 gets a bum rap. It's a very good game, with imaginative bosses and some crazy level designs.

Maxi's really going to be mad, because I just decided to post angrily every week that Nintendo doesn't release Yoshi's Island, which will probably be a lot longer than it will be until Shantae.

COME ON, NINTENDO, GIVE ME MY YOSHI'S ISLAND RIGHT NOW!

BeautifulShyApril 19, 2010

There is a GBA game of it. Super Mario Advance 3:Yoshi's Island

Mop it upApril 19, 2010

I'm going to start posting angrily until Blaster Master 2 comes to VC.

Now I just need to get angry. This could be difficult...

GoldenPhoenixApril 19, 2010

Woohoo, MM4 is a fantastic game. The introduction of the charge shot and it has some neat weapons too.

I see your Blaster Master 2 and raise you Earthbound.

Also, Mega Man 4 is the first Mega Man game I ever owned... but I'm good with the Anniversary collection. Still plays on the Wii, for one thing.

TJ SpykeApril 20, 2010

For me, I am waiting for Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. I want to play it again so bad, but I don't want to pay $50 for a GBA SP plus the price of the GBA game just to play it.

When a game is supposed to be coming out any week now, I think there's reason to complain. Zach verbalizes my feelings every week as well. I want Shantae DSiWare, dammit!

Now this Yoshi's Island/Earthbound/Blaster Master 2 VC thing...it's probably not going to happen. I think we're better off crying and holding a candlelight vigil at the next PAX.

I chose a game which actually has a chance of being released.

ZING!

Wait that's sad...

I don't think Earthbound is ever going to happen, but why not the other two? Yoshi's Island is not only a Nintendo-published title, but also a Mario game. A year ago people said that Blaster Master would never come to VC, so now that it has, and has a sequel on WiiWare, why not Blaster Master 2?

TJ SpykeApril 20, 2010

The only problem with EarthBound is that Nintendo is basically afraid. There is no legal reason. Even if the game does sample licensed music, that falls within the limits of fair use and/or parody. Nintendo just may not want to have to deal with that. What's odd is that they don't even release it in Japan (where copyriight laws are WAY more lenient), especially since they advertised it with a demo on the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Luigi DudeApril 20, 2010

On the issue of Yoshi's Island, Nintendo's just saving that game because they just want to still have something big still left to release on the VC.  Right now, Nintendo has already released over 90% of their ENTIRE home console lineup pre Gamecube on the VC.  Unless they start adding Gameboy, GBC, or GBA support, then there's hardly anything left to release.

TJ SpykeApril 20, 2010

The majority of their remaining first party games are ones that were never released outside of Japan and are unlikely to be released on VC here because of how much text they contain (like the Fire Emblem games, Famicom Wars games, Famicom Detective Club games, etc.)

As an owner of the iPhone version, Surviving High School is ace and I recommend it to all.

What kind of game is it exactly? An adventure game?

The description sounds ridiculous.
