Drill down for some fishies on the digital landscape this week.

This week in Nintendo Downloads we have seven new titles.

The first of two WiiWare titles this week is Fishie Fishie, a simple fast-paced action game for up to four players that uses only one button on the Wii Remote. The game has seven modes and 100 levels, and its multiplayer modes take place on the same screen. Fishie Fishie is available on the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points ($5).

The second WiiWare game this week is Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 2, a game rated for Early Childhood use. This learning tool is the second in its series, featuring the PooYoos, a small group of talking animals. The game is designed for children who have not quite learned to read yet. Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 2 is available on the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points ($5).

The single release for Virtual Console this week is Ironclad for Neo Geo CD. The game is a side-scrolling shooter, in which you control a flying ship attacking oncoming enemies. Ironclad is the first release from the Neo Geo CD system, with an additional cost of 100 points. The game is available from the Wii Shop Channel for 1,000 Wii Points ($10).

On DSiWare this week, we have four games total. The first three games are from the Game & Watch series: Manhole, Helmet, and Vermin. Each game is available for 200 Nintendo DSi Points ($2) and they are both single-player experiences. In Game & Watch: Manhole, you cover up a manhole to prevent pedestrians from falling into the sewer. In Game & Watch: Helmet, you move a construction worker from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen while dodging falling tools. Game & Watch: Vermin plays like Whack-A-Mole, as you attack moles that pop up out of the ground.

The last game this week for DSiWare is Mr. Driller: Drill Till You Drop. This single-player update of a classic franchise features 40 stages and three modes: Time Attack, Dristone, and Mission Mode. The game plays somewhat similarly to Dig Dug, as you dig down underground while monitoring your air supply and avoid being crushed by rocks. Mr. Driller: Drill Till You Drop is available on the DSi Shop for 500 Nintendo DSi Points ($5).

Talkback

Mr. Driller is just a cut down version of Drill Spirits but I believe the US version of Drill Spirits had Dristone removed so for US gamers there'll be something new in it.

Hey, you know what's not going to make that Q1 release date? SHANTAE, NINTENDO.

TJ SpykeApril 05, 2010

That was obvious last week since this week is part of Q2 (Q1 is January-March).

The Mr. Driller game was released in Japan as Mr. Driller DSi way back in February 2009. It may be nearly 14 months late but it is cheaper here (the game is 800 points in Japan). It is a brand new game created specifically for DSiWare though, not just a stripped down version of Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits.

Weak! What's up with 1000 points for a Neo Geo game? The press release doesn't say it's an import.

Really? I thought it was Drill Spirits minus pressure driller mode (the one where you have a giant enemy drill closing in from above).

GoldenPhoenixApril 05, 2010

Learning with the PooWoos, my most anticipated game ever.

Because it's a Neo Geo CD game, it's like how TurboGrafx-CD games cost 100 more points more than regular TurboGrafx-16 games.

KDR, I haven't bee able to find anything that says it is just a stripped down version of a retail game (whereas that info is easy to find for similar releases). Most Mr. Driller games are similar anyways.

Turbo CD games are 200 more than TG16 (800 vs. 600 points), but you are probably right. I didn't know Neo Geo CD was even supported on Virtual Console.

This was the first one.
