Water Warfare and two other WiiWare titles arrive on the Wii Shop Channel alongside a Suduoku game for DSiWare and a sequel to a famous Sega franchise for the Virtual Console.

This week in Nintendo Downloads, yet again, offers three WiiWare games, one game for DSiWare, and one Virtual Console game.

The first WiiWare title this week is Water Warfare from Hudson. In this first-person shooter, you are armed with water guns instead of firearms. The game offers various maps with different themes and many different modes, such as missions, CPU matches, two-player split-screen, and an online mode where up to eight players can battle each other. Water Warfare is available for 800 Wii Points ($8).

Reel Fishing Challenge is the latest game in Natsume's long-running Reel Fishing series. You will be able to discover new fish in challenge mission mode or play at your pace with free play mode. The game promises a realistic fishing experience as each fish looks and moves like its real life counterpart. Reel Fishing Challenge is available for 500 Wii Points ($5).

Silver Star Reversi from Agetec is the latest game in the Silver Star series that's based around a classic board game. The game offers a single-player mode where you can play against a computer opponent or a two-player mode where you can play against another person. Silver Star Reversi is available for 500 Wii Points ($5).

Sudoku Master from Hudson is the lone DSiWare title this week. The game features 150 puzzles and various tutorials to help players learn the rules of Sudoku. The game also has a title mode where you can rise from the ranks of a rookie to a Sudoku master. Sudoku Master is available for 500 DSi Points ($5).

Fantasy Zone II for the Sega Master System is the only Virtual Console title this week. The game takes place ten years after the original game, which is also on Virtual Console. The planets in the fantasy zone are being attacked once again by the Neon planet forces. Opa-Opa is tasked to save the fantasy zone from the mastermind yet again.

I think the three WiiWare releases strategy is so that the service has 100 games by the time Bit.Trip.Core is released.

I think they're probably also sitting on a lot of WiiWare releases.

KDR_11kJune 29, 2009

Yeah, I think it's the length of the queue. Doesn't make sense to shift the schedule around just so Core can be number 100 when Core isn't really anything special.

Anyway, Water Warfare review. Also everybody post your friend codes in the FC thread.

OMG ATTACK OF THE BOLD

jakeOSXJune 29, 2009

ok, so is it bad that i think i want this water gun game? random boards, 8 person online, super soakers?

OMGZ BADZ GRAFIX! which, kinda makes it even more appealing...

Serious SamQuake?  isn't that what this game is?  Serving an underserved portion of the Wii market?

Don't worry, it's good. The invincibility items mess with it a bit but that doesn't hurt all of the modes and I've even had a few matches where they weren't even in play (too bad it didn't seem to be a permanent thing).

We'll see what happens when Bit.Trip. Core is finally released. But I do find it odd that all of a sudden they are loving WiiWare with three releases each week.
