A new Pokémon battle royal invades WiiWare.

Nintendo recently announced that a new Pokémon game for WiiWare from the team who made My Pokémon Ranch is on the way.

In the game, called Ransen! Pokémon Scramble, players control toy versions of the popular Pokémon creatures. Unlike other entries in the series, battles are not fought in a turn based one-on-one format; instead, players fight in a chaotic battle royal against a large amount of other Pokémon in real time. As rival Pokémon and giant bosses are defeated, players build up a large number of ally Pokémon.

The game features a single player mode and a four player cooperative mode. Players will be able to transfer their Pokémon data to the Wii Remote's internal memory, which allows a player to bring their Pokémon from the game to their friend's Wii.

Ransen! Pokémon Scramble will be available in Japan on June 16 for 1500 Wii Points ($15). Nintendo has not announced a release date for any other region.

Talkback

This means that rumor from a few weeks back was a little off but got the basics right.

Pokemon transferred through the wiimote... glad they decided to use this feature some more.
I hope the Wiimote 2 has a micro SD card slot so you can take your Mii and all your attached saved games (and pokemon) to a friends house too.

But anyway, the rumor was about a new Pokemon Colosseum that traded pokemon with the new DS versions.
The "what" was kinda right, but the "how" was pretty far off.

edit: Was this game at E3 in any shape or form? seems weird for a game coming out this month to not get a mention at E3 or the Post E3 JPN conference.

This is a WiiWare game. Nintendo NEVER promotes those much if at all at conferences.

My sister will be excited about this. I wonder how it it will play. Will it have a Smash Brothers feel?

am i the only one who skimmed thru the talkback section and read this thread title as "ransom pokemon" and thought this was a whoooole new level of "trading" your pokemon? lol

"if you ever wanna see your beloved pikachu again, you need to trade me 5 mews!"

I find turn-based battles to be boring so I might watch this and see how it turns out. It could be interesting.

Nintendo Life compared it to Smash TV.

I actually own that game but I've never played it. Maybe I should check it out so I know what to expect from this.
